A magic brush in my bed & Day 116. 249 Days Left.

Every night before I go to sleep, I go on a scavenger hunt; searching Addison's and Jackson's beds for whatever random toys they managed to slip in with them. This is my way of avoiding a wake up call from toddlers rolling over on hard plastic dinosaurs or race cars; because once up, they end up in our bed.

Last night, while pulling toys from under Addison, I woke her. Her eyes popped opened and she whispered “mommy, there is a magic brush in my bed… and a mirror… and flashlight.”

I run my hands through the covers and found the brush first than the mirror and flashlight. I asked why she had this stuff hoarded in bed. Her response; a quiet, half mumbled, “I wanted my hair to grow like Tangled and be magic. I needed to brush it.” I ask her “but why the mirror and flashlight?“ She replied; “how else do I see?” Sounds about right.

Twenty minutes later, she, her magic brush, mirror and flashlight, along with a handful of Toy Story Friends, ended up in bed with us.

What has been the strangest thing you found stuffed in your little cutie's bed?

He who does not speak & Day 101. 264 Days Left.

My adorable little Bubba Jackson— that tubby, huggy, lovable, blue-eyed, oh-so-stubborn 19–month-old of mine. He jabbers all day that unintelligible jibber-jabber of a one year old, complete with hand gestures and voice inflections but only says about five “real” words. None of which anyone else can understand and none of which are “mama”. In fact, the more I try to get him to say a word- especially mama- the farther his little chin juts out in a try-and-make-me defiance. He will take off in a 2-minute babble of Jackson-Speak, finish, look at me awaiting a response and when I say “yes Jackson, whatever you say” or “oh, really?” he will laugh hysterically. There is no telling what I am agreeing to. He is probably saying "Hey mom, when I am 16, will you buy me a motorcycle? Oh, and I plan on driving down to South Miami to get tattoos and hang out on the beach picking up hot girls in their bikinis- okay?"

So please tell me I am not alone here… Right? Pretty please? Reassure me!
I am hoping it is because (as a friend said) Addison and I do all of the talking for him and because, as I have discovered, he is a stubborn 19-month-old determined to do things only when HE is good and ready.

Ah yes, my stubborn- I am ready when I say I am ready- chubby, toe-head I love... Mama or no Mama.

These moments & Day 96. 269 Days Left.

She walks into the kitchen while I am cleaning up from breakfast. She begins telling me how she still needs Buzz Lightyear for her Toy Story Friends, and I, being distracted as usual, gave some distant mumbles of understanding.

She stops talking. I just assumed she went back into her room.

She walks up next to me; “Mommy you look like you need a hug.”

I stop the dishes, look down at her; “I do?”

She smiles; “Yes, mommy. You don’t feel good so I think you need a hug.”

I pick her up and she wraps her little arms around my neck. “Mommy, I love you.”

“Thank you Addison. I love you too.”

And with that she is off to her room telling the rest of her “friends” Buzz will be here soon…

After 1 1/2 hours of trying to get Addison to finish her dinner, she decides she is mad!

A for Apple, B for Butt, H is for Hoo-ha & P is for Poop. & Day 63. 302 Days Left.

Recently Addison has become especially interested in the way words are spelled. I get asked several times a day to spell words for her. Since the hubby and I are planning to send her to school in August, I have taken full advantage of this and sound out the words for her to give me the letter name.

That being said, today, while we were in the room playing with her critter clinic, she asked me to spell "butt". I sounded it out and she gave me the letter names. Next, she asked me to spell "penis". Trying not to laugh, I sounded out the word and she gave me the letter names. Once we spelled penis, she asked me how to spell “hoo-ha”; the word we use for vagina. I said to her “how bout we spell animals words instead.” She didn’t like the idea because “spelling animals words is so boring”. She than asked me to spell “poop”. I asked why she only wanted to spell potty words. She responded with: “Because they are so so so so so funny mommy.”

Great, as long as we've got that clear.
