Thirty-Something & Day 41. 324 Days Left.

I have officially hit thirty-something. I feel nothing; well, other than tired. I can’t really say I feel older, though I am, can’t say I am excited about my birthday, because I am not, today really just feels like another day.

I did spend the day the only way I would dream of spending my birthday, with the hubby, my mom and my two little blessings. The hubby made my favorite breakfast, eggs benedict. The kids hated it but oh, well some part of today had to be about me. (Because after all today will forever be remembered as the day I went into labor with Addison. Her birthday is tomorrow.)

The afternoon was spent at St. Jerome Fall Festival. Their annual church carnival. (I went to St. Jerome from K-8th grade so I was excited about sharing this with my children and equally exciting,it was the first time either has been to a fair.) As we were preparing Addison for the day, I told her we were going to a fair and there would be rides and games. She looked at the hubby and me and said “and boys?” Fabulous, we are going to be in a shit load of trouble come middle school. Boys. She is three. Now I definitely feel my age...Thirty-something.

Day 38: Addison's 3rd Birthday Party. 327 Days Left.

As most of you know, we are huge Yo Gabba Gabba fans in this house.

So, for Addison's 3rd birthday, we kicked it Yo Gabba style...

Addison started watching Yo Gabba Gabba when she was 6 months old, she would get this huge smile on her face and shake her feet and arms all around. Jackson was also immediately drawn to the show; dancing his way through each episode.

When I originally looked online I saw that there wasn't much Yo Gabba birthday stuff to buy. I was extremely disappointed.
Then I went to NickJr.com and found a ton of really cool ideas and was like "Ok, I can do this!"

So here are some pictures of my daughter's 3rd birthday.

The Decorations and kid's party favors were made by using printables from Nick Jr's Yo Gabba Gabba selections. For the boom boxes, I printed copies from Nick Jr's party printables. I cut and glued a boom box to each side of the animal cracker box. They fit perfectly.



I made both Addison's and Jackson's shirts by using the Foofa and Brobee iron on printables.



We purchased Addison's cake.
I do not attempt to decorate cakes. They typically end up smashed because I get so pissed off. I bought the cake and added a few new Gabba toys for her collection.



Ultimately, Addison had an AWESOME third birthday!

The Panic Sets In & Day 25. 340 Days Left.

As Jackson’s first birthday party approaches, I have a laundry list of to do’s that are not getting done.

First, I partly blame a stubborn 2 ¾ year old. In short, today was not so great. The day was spent diffusing a number of tantrums, one over having to put on shoes so we could walk down to the car and get the requested Moose and Zee DVD. So guess what, No shoes, No Moose and Zee DVD. In addition to the tantrums, she had a couple of accidents in her undies, both pee and poop. Fun...

The bratty toddler episode was followed by a weather forecast calling for a series of Tropical Depressions and severe thunderstorms which are rearing for South Florida. Thus causing the panic. Apparently the depression, possible Tropical Storm Nicole, is hitting tonight through the morning and will be followed by a number of severe thunderstorms lasting until Sunday. Great. There is a possibility Jackson’s birthday party could be cancelled. I have two thoughts 1. Thank god I decided not to have the party at the park and 2. Mother Nature is a real bitch and she has fucked with us enough. First the bees and now Jackson’s birthday. I know I can’t compare the two but doesn’t every mother want to make this milestone memorable. I realize Jackson will have no idea, I will. I am looking forward, as well as Addison, Daddy, our family and friends, to celebrating.

On that note… Fingers crossed and continuing our countdown…

The Yo Gabba Gabba Generation

I remember the first morning my husband walked in the room and Addison and I were fixated on the TV. He came over to see what we were watching so intently. He said, "you guys aren’t really watching this; are you? What the hell is it?" I remember thinking the same thing as I stare intently at the TV.

I had just stumbled on the show. Addison was nine months at the time. She loved it. From that moment Gabba became a favorite. In fact, it was the only show that would keep her attention for the full half hour. So Yo Gabba Gabba became my favorite.



While at Target one day we discovered the Gabba Friend plushies. She was in love. We had to collect them all. Including their larger speaking counter parts. Then the silly balls. The boom box learning laptop. The books and DVD’s. The Plex train and Plex car with all the friends to travel along. Now that she is potty trained; the undies- which are so stinkin’ cute on her- just love them.


Never did I imagine that she would be hooked.

Yo Gabba has been a part of your daily schedule. Seriously, outings are scheduled around the show. We look forward to new episodes and dancey dance time (we includes mommy). Now Jackson is hooked. He has been watching since five days old. When I need a mommy moment, to make dinner or run the trash out, I know if Yo Gabba Gabba is on they will be entertained for the half hour.



Because my daughter is so in love with Yo Gabba it seemed appropriate to plan a Gabba themed party for her third birthday and the gifts to go along. They have some pretty awesome toys. Gabba LIVE here we come! And Foofa bounce-on; well I am just going to be the best mommy ever… beat that Santa Claus!
