Where They go to Die & Day 61. 304 Days Left.

Welcome to Surviving Motherhood.
The place bloggy awards go to die.

I am not an ungrateful person. Rather, I am a stay at home mommy of two wild toddlers who keep me busy. When I do have the chance to sit and read or write something, I am a bit, dare I say, lazy. I have gone months without posting. I most days lack the time, energy or creativity to keep up with the bloggyverse.

I have to admit, when I first began blogging and was trying to build my readership, I posted and followed the rules to every award. Then I got lazy and decided I really did not have the time or the ambition to search through bloggyland for newbies to pass along awards.

Am I really alone?

After all, how many of us can say we actually go back to visit or read post from the people we award… I don’t.

I have a handful of blogs I read- not religiously- but when I have a few. It is difficult to keep up with my blog let alone the gazillion others out there.
So I am going to finally accept the award that was giving to me in December with the hopes that no one ever sends me another award or tags me in another game. Ever. If you do decided to hand over one of those awards, don’t be hurt if you never receive the appropriate thanks and it certainly will not be passed along.

So thank you, Tricia from mom is the only girl for passing along the stylish blogger award. I am much honored you think my blog is “stylish” enough to award. I do visit your blog frequently but just never got around to actually accepting the award.

Lets Play Catch –up & Day 49. 316 Days Left.

It has been an adventurous, perhaps even hilarious year. Just when I think I have finally hit a Mommy rut, life throws me a curve ball that keeps me on my toes.

2010 has brought me so many experiences, good and bad.

I have experienced a few bah-humbug moments this Christmas and vow to do better and be less stressed over the 2011 holidays. Allow me to elaborate… as with most stay at home mamas routine is the key to a happy home. Routine! However, with all the hustle, bustle and excitement of the holiday’s routine becomes a bit obsolete. Except for naptime. Naptime is enforced. Always.

I discovered my UPS & FedEx delivery times were roughly between 12-2pm (naptime). The doorbell rang (at least twice…why?), the dogs barked, the kids woke up (cranky) and me, I shouted FUCK. Finally, after receiving all the packages, it was back to our naptime routine, uninterrupted. No such luck…

One afternoon (five days before Christmas) the door bell rang; three times; WHY?
The dogs carried on, the kids woke up and I shoved everyone away from the door to accept a random package I was not expecting. I finally get outside and the UPS guy asked if I would accept a package for my neighbor. Suddenly I morphed into this Grinch… “Are you kidding me? You woke my kids up to have me accept a package for a neighbor I do not even know?” He is starring at me pen still held out. “Why, would I take a package for someone not knowing when they will come by to pick it up? I have SLEEPING BABIES!” He was still standing there as I closed the door. Poor guy.

That perhaps was my worst holiday moment.

So where do I see this stay at home mommies adventures going in the next twelve months? How will I survive, enjoy life to the fullest with the maximum amount of enjoyment and the least amount of embarrassment and stress?

I will not embarrass myself by setting a stupid goal to lose weight. It is not going to happen. I will instead try and embrace who I am, enjoy all that life has to offer, in moderation, while perhaps doing a little more TV watching from the bike vs. the sofa.

I could set a goal to be a better mom and wife but I think that is something I strive for everyday. Maybe I could vow to yell at the kids and animals less...but that would benifit my neighbors more than me. Perhaps I could try and actually write a post everyday but I have to admit I am pretty darn lazy and rather be sitting on the sofa, sipping coffee and playing catch-up on any TV shows I missed.
What are your resolutions and how is your progress?

Meanwhile there is so much to look forward to and be thankful for!

I'm Gonna Get You, Sunshine for Mama Kimberly and Day 33. 332 Days Left.

Mama Kimberly tagged me in a friendly game of bloggy tag and I have been it for weeks!
Finally, I am gonna get you… so start running!

To begin, I had to answer the following:

4 Things in my Handbag:
First I must confess my handbag is a diaper bag and has been for the past three years!
1. Neosporin, band-aids and Benadryl (since the bee incident). With two kids under the age three I learned these MUST stay fully stocked in the bag.
2. Diapers
3. Tons of Target and Publix receipts.
4. Crumbs- crumbs and more crumbs- of all sorts…

4 Things In/On my Desk:
1. Pictures of Addison and Jackson
2. My broken laptop- sniffle.
3. Jackson’s birth certificate form- I filled out and never sent in- oops
4. Baby Monitor.

4 Favorite Things in my Bedroom:
1. Our Wedding Pictures which hang over our bed.
2. Other family pictures- I am a picture gal!
3. My big brown chair which was given to us by our neighbor who moved out. Even though it matches nothing in our room, I love that ugly chair.
4. My bed spread. I love it; our room is green and the bed spread is black and white. It makes our small uncomfortable bed, beautiful.

4 Things I Always Wanted To Do (But haven’t yet):
1. Go to Hawaii and Vegas.
2. Travel outside the U.S.
3. Have another baby- been working on the hubby but it is not financially smart at this time.
4. Play in the snow. As an adult not a one year old.

4 Things I Enjoy Very Much At the Moment:
1. Nap-time. Addison is sleeping and Jackson in his crib watching Yo Gabba while playing with his glow worm. I LOVE nap-time
2. Having a glass of wine with the hubby while the kids are still napping. Yummy.
3. Working on Addison’s birthday party favors and decorations (Yo Gabba themed).
4. Talking with the hubby about our day.

4 Song I Can’t Get Outta My Head:
This is so shameful…
1. There‘s a Party in my Tummy: YGG.
2. Animals on the Farm: Disney’s Choo Choo Soul.
3. Willy was a Whale: Justin Roberts.
4. I Don’t Like Candy Corn: Nick Jr's Moose and Zee.
Embarrassing to admit- I know!

4 Things You Don’t Know About Me:
1. I yell- A LOT! If you are my neighbor you already know this...
2. I speak my mind- probably a little too frequently.
3. I hate the garbage disposal. It freaks me out. I cringe every time I have to turn it on… I am a freak, I know. They could make a successful horror movie with what goes on in my mind.
4. I miss being close to my sister and my bestie Liz. Especially now that I stay home during the day.

Now’s my turn to tag 4 more blogs…
1. 8aPlenty
2. Haute Mom
3. BeckyandJames.com a peek over the fence
4. The Mean Mommy Club

I love learning more about the people behind their incredible blogs.

I disappeared and Day 32. 333 Days Left

Yes, I did disappear for a few weeks. Well actually we were having a few computer issues. And after having it fixed I got a bit, truthfully, extremely lazy.

I owe mama Kimberly over at All Work And No Play Makes Mommy Go Something Something a BIG something. Sorry Mama and I will get on it very soon- I promise!

A Post With Substance

I have been a little blog lazy and here are my reasons (excuses)

1. The hubby has been working nights and nothing good comes from him working nights. I will touch on this in a minute.

2. Both chillens are sick. They are coughing, sneezing, snot dripping, greasy little yuckos.

3. My lap top is out of commission so I am using the tower dinosaur with a broken keyboard and a space bar that sticks.

4. Jackson's first birthday is two weeks away and I am busy with the preparations. Yes, I begin birthday preparations early. For those of you who know me, I am a crazy perfectionist and preparations include an awesome DVD of Moose and Zee, Yo Gabba, Happy Monster Band and other favorites; which will be playing on the TV for the kiddo's entertainment. Along with a Moose and Zee mural on the outside closet door (for all the kiddies to beg their mommies and daddies for one) and a number of other party to-do’s.

So on to the hubby working nights...

When he first told me I had a bit of a temper tantrum and I broke the refrigerator. Well not the entire frig. Just the most important part. The Beer Drawer. Yes we have a beer drawer. It is the convertible vegetable/meat drawer with the temperature gage. It keep the beers ice cold, the perfect temperature. So cold that a small layer of ice would form on inside drawer. Fuck. No more beer drawer. I slammed the frig door when trying to get Jackson a bottle and a Tupperware of grapes toppled spilling out all over the floor, the door flew back open so I slammed it harder with the Tupperware stuck in between. Apparently it was just enough to shatter the beer drawer.

You would think I would like having the house to myself. No, I hate it. I hate being home alone at night with two babies. I morph a into a paranoid freak. It is like a terrible low budget horror movie in my head. I worry about everything. I cringe when I hear noises, the babies refuse to sleep for me, the dogs go into protective mode and bark at any little sound thus waking my finally sleeping babies. I hate being home alone.

I refuse to walk the dogs at night (because of the giant spiders that have decided to make their homes in massive numbers on our street).

There are no benefits to being alone. It is not like I get a vacation and can lay around the house in my own filth watching whatever I want. Instead, I will worry about my responsibility to prtect my precious babies in the event anything horrific happen during the middle of the night. Besides, I am a mommy of two so I usually don't have much time or energy to shower and it’s not like I will spend the night staying up watching movies... I will try to get whatever sleep I can because the morning is just around the corner and I will be up and going with my two little monsters children.

Night shifts do not benefit the hubby either; it is not like he is making overtime. In fact, he loses hours and a full Saturday. He has to get his sleep in the late morning and tries again in the afternoon. Do you know how difficult it is to keep an almost one year old and a temper-tantrum throwing almost three year old quiet? Impossible. Especially when both are sick.

Another bone with him working nights is that nothing and I mean NOTHING gets done around the house. When the hubby is home our whole daytime routine is, well, fucked. I now have animal hair tumble weeds blowing around the house from the lack of vacuuming. Plus our white tile floor is now speckled with trails of orange juice, ginger ale and a number of other sugary drinks. I have quit. They are all lucky I feed them dinner.

Thankfully the hubby‘s last night shift was Wednesday. However, we now get screwed out of him working Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Good times when we are planning for Jackson 1st birthday party in two weeks.

See nothing good comes from him working nights.

I say this while NOT so much enjoying my slightly chilled beer.
