Toddler Talk Thursday & Day 124. 241 Days Left.

It’s no surprise kids’ say the funniest things, and what comes out of the mouth’s of toddlers is often hysterical and sometimes downright pee your pants funny! When what they say isn’t humorous, their words can melt your heart. To help make sure I never forget these little toddler quips and because they make me smile, I have decided to share them in a weekly post called “Toddler Talk Thursday.”

While sitting in the room playing…

Addison: “Up butt coconut, up your butt with a coconut.” one of Addison’s favorite non-mommy approved songs that Auntie M so kindly taught her.

Addison: “Up butt coconut up, your butt with a coconut.” repeat five more times.

Mommy: “Ok Addison, that is enough. Thank you.”

Addison: ”But mommy up butt coconut, up your butt with a coconut is my favorite song.” she just had to get it out one more time.

Mommy: “It is a silly song. Let’s sing something different.”

Addison: “What mommy?”

Jackson: “up butt” and he speaks

Addison: Laughing hysterically “Jackson just said up butt!” more laughing… “Up butt coconut, up your butt with a coconut.”

Jackson: “up butt”

both in hysterics

Mommy leaving the room to go call Auntie M…

What are your toddlers saying?

My Songbird & Day 121. 244 Days Left.

7:00am: I awaken to the soft rhythmic mumbles coming through the baby monitor. I lay there a few minutes to make out what Addison has chosen to serenade Jackson and I with on this particular morning.

A few seconds later I make out…

“Are you gonna take me home tonight?
Oh, down beside that red firelight;
Are you gonna let it all hang out?
Fat bottomed girls,
You make the rockin' world go round.”

Queens "Fat Bottomed Girls" has become a ritual in our house. Perhaps she is trying to tell my something?

But for Addison, this song, although a favorite, is not an Addison original. Her life is much like a Broadway Musical; at any moment she will burst into song. But these are not the unoriginal songs of preschool-hood… Oh, no. She has mastered “The Itsy bitsy spider” and “Twinkle- Twinkle”, but Addison is an artist and she must create!

When she is playing with her Toy Story friends, she sings about them. When she is going potty, she sings about her hoo-ha and butt. When she is eating, she sings about her food. When my cell phone rings, she sings “up butt coconut”. Thank you Auntie M!

Last night, while she and Jackson were in the bath, she burst into song. She sang “Jackson is peeing in the tub and mommy has a big fat bottom and makes the whole world go round.” Ah, yes. She mastered two very important eternal truths… Jackson in fact was peeing in the tub and mommy indeed has a fat bottom.

Although I was unaware it made the world go round… perhaps just the hubby’s.

Up Butt Coconut & Day 57. 308 Days Left.

For Christmas Auntie M got Addison her very own digital camera… but that was not all.

Addison loves surfing around on YouTube with us. She loves watching the various music videos from Nick Jr and other preschool favorites. When mommy is not around the monkeys (which include Daddy and Auntie M) will play. The hubby found some not-mommy-approved music videos that he and Addison were rockin’ out to and later discovered Auntie M reinforced. I did not know any of this until Addison was walking around the house singing “Up Butt Coconut”. I asked her where did she get that and her response was “Daddy and Auntie M”. Fantastic.

Well today, Addison & Jackson were playing with their dancing monkey toy when she suddenly got the urge to grab her digital camera. She pulled it out and started to "snap" pictures of all her stuffed monkey butts; the entire time signing “up butt coconut- hahaha butts are funny!”

Her pictures were not limited to monkey butts. No, she decided to include the pug butt, Jackson butt, plastic toy butts, Maggie (our other dog) butt, jellyfish butt and even mommy butt (I will spare you the visual of the mommy butt). Why? Well because “butts are funny”.

Oh my. Maybe she's going to have a gallery of art someday only of butts.

Day 57

When she is not taking pictures of butts and saying bad words she is my girly little princess
